Dead Giveaway

The main fault of this documentary is that it covers too many cases in a relatively short space of time, but three of them are fascinating, and two of those notorious. First up is the unbelievable yet true story of the Ken and Barbie killers, in particular of Barbie, Karla Homolka, Canada's most hated woman. This documentary has an authentic feel to it, a bit too authentic; if the autopsy photos of Karla's sister Tammy were released or leaked, there was no need for the media to publish them.

If you are not familiar with the case of especially Karla Homolka, you might like to check out the excellent 2006 offering "Karla"; if not, this will give you a shocking preview.

The case of "mail rapist" Anthony Turner is bizarre, but not original; serial killer Kenneth Bianchi tried to pull a similar stunt with a female accomplice, Veronica Compton, who went the extra mile for him.

Of the other cases discussed here, that of serial murderess Belle Gunness is the most notorious. What happened to her remains something of a mystery.

This is not a bad programme but it is a taster, only though for people who have a taste for murder, wanton cruelty and extreme depravity.
