Buddy film with a twist

This sweet story of friendship between two men works at many levels. One is mostly out and gay. The other has his cards close to his chest. Friendship blooms with a tinge of sexual tension which never gets in the way of the friendship. Well, not really. Bromance is something that many gay men have found very rewarding. Sometimes we find a person who is "queer for us" and not in general. Is that the case with these two attractive guys? I won't spoil the ending. But it is a pretty nice one. And quite believable despite the grouch reviews on this page. OK, I am a romantic.

Great German gay themed movie with a positive ending!

Where are you going, Habibi? is a terrific gay themed movie with a beautiful positive ending. I watched this on Vimeo's On Demand service. The two main characters have been cast perfectly. The lead roll of Ibo, played by Cem Alkan, has one of those faces that lights up a room. He has a magnetic presence on screen and it is a delight to finally see a gay character that is not one dimensional and knows how to stick up for himself. His partner in crime "Ali" is played by Martin Walde and is the polar opposite to Ibo. Ali is a diamond in the rough, who is not scared to show his emotions and forms a special friendship with Ibo. I guess you could call this a "coming out" film, but it is much more than that. The movie is really about male friendship and what happens when that friendship becomes much deeper. If you're in the mood for an easy to watch movie, I highly recommend "Where are you going, Habibi?" It left me feeling uplifted and I wish more gay themed movies would take a leaf out of this book!

Just a bit of fun

It's not earth shattering or profound, but just a story of 2 attractive lads getting on in their bromance with a bit of social commentary thrown in. The story was sufficiently interesting to hold my attention for the full running time. I enjoyed the film and would recommend it.
