AMAZING

This movie made me feel young again. I've been a fan of the series since it began, and this movie brought back some sweet memories. Magical and life-changing. The musical aspect is perfectly combined with the romance portrayed. The melodies and songs make sense within the plot and immerse you more into the movie. I loved every second of it. The tension, the romance, the pinning, the uncertainty. So many emotions to be felt. A must watch if you are a long term fan of the franchise, or if you love musicals with good animation (such as disney movies). Can't wait for the next movies and to hear what the rest of the public thinks!

Magical Reimagination

First of all, I will admit that the movie started off slow. As someone who grew up watching the show, it felt like I was watching the origins episodes all over again, but with better animation. The addition of the beautiful songs is what made it worth watching to the end. I simply can not agree with other miraculers when they say that the music was repetitive and unnecessary! Hawkmoth singing "Chaos Will Reign Today" was a wonderful turning point in the film. It stands out because of how catchy it is and it is similar to a classic Disney villain theme song! This movie was obviously inspired by multiple of those classics. "You Are Ladybug" and "Ma Lady" were so sweet to my ears. Wonderful job to all the voice actors who sang in that regard.

Moving onto the plot of the film, it was mostly identical to the first five seasons of miraculous. Granted that there were two timeskips in between the scenes of the movie, the pacing was still done well enough that anyone could understand what was going on even if they were not a superfan of the show like me. There was a difference, however, by letting the magical jewels take some sort of power over their holders. Yet I still found it entertaining that CN and LB's magic weapons had their own personalities. And the way that Chat Noir's stick being magically controlled was integrated to the theatre scene where he surprises Ladybug... just a brilliant addition! The fact they don't have to say "spots on/spots off" etc is a subtraction I don't mind. Their powers might have been OP at the end, but that can be attributed to the passage of 9 months from the beginning to end of the film just like how LB and CN could use unlimited catacylsms and lucky charms by the end of season 5. Every change that Zag made to the original stroryline was well done.

The second half of the film that follows Hawkmoth's musical number is the part most worth watching. Seeing the chemistry between not only Adrien and Marinette, but also Ladybug and Chat Noir come to life through the most sickeningly sweet and playful scenes was amazing to watch. It is regretful that Marinette's quirkiness was not evident in this rendition of her character, and Adrien wasn't an oblivious sweetheart. But it makes sense that they would need to be more straightforward with their feelings to move the plot along quicker. The angst from when Ladybug rejected Chat Noir and from when Adrien rejected Marinette hit during the final battle. Them nearly losing both magical jewels because the riff between them made them forget that they are stronger TOGETHER had me on the edge of my seat. It was evident they cared for each other, their feelings just weren't clear. Not only that, but the build up to Marinette realising she alone is enough to change the world with the power of love with or without the miraculous was amazing. When she rescued Chat Noir from Hawkmoth's grasp I had to hold myself back from screaming "YES!!!" Marinette and Adrien's scene after the final fight where they realise who they both are at the ball.... just incredible. Beautiful. Stunning. Piercing. Moving. MAGICAL. I completely tuned out the world around me when seeing that. I don't think I will ever root for a ship more than I did for Adrinette.

All in all, the music, art, animation, and direction for this movie was incredible. I will definitely be watching it again in theatres if possible!

They told us what to expect, and it exceeded those expectations.

Those who are upset about it being a musical and it not aligning with the shows have not been paying attention the last 3 years of updates. They told us from the beginning it was a musical and that it wouldn't align with the shows storyline, so those placing bad reviews on that just didn't pay attention. But overall this film exceeded my expectations. The soundtrack is just beautiful. Especially Courage in Me. Phenomenal. The romantic tension was there and was beautiful. I will say I'm am very sad to see Ce Mur Qui Nous Sépare was not in it, but the rest of the soundtrack really made up for that. Jeremy did a phenomenal job with listening to what the fans want. I'm looking forward to a sequel ?
