Aaron Eckhart is back! Based on the Fighter by Michael Farris Smith, which was wonderfully written, the plot takes place in Mississippi, where Jack (Eckhart), fights his way out of gambling debt to save his foster mother's house. Because of a debilitating drug addiction from previous fighting, Jack is on his hind legs. The creditor Jack is worried about isn't the bank that foreclosed on the house, but is Big Mama Sweet, played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste, a perfect cast. The movie is visually stunning. The cinematographer is David J. Myrick who also worked on Yellowstone. Bella throne does a great job playing Jack's daughter, a carny who meets him and helps him along the way.

I was lucky enough to watch this movie in the theater and loved it so much that I am pre-ordering it on Apple as well.

I read the book, 'The Fighter' by Michael Farris Smith who also adapted the story into the screenplay and I was an instant fan. So getting to see that incredible book turned into a movie that was also written by the author was such a pleasure.

This is by far, Aaron Eckhart's best performance! He is Jack Boucher from the very first frame to the very last.

Bella Thorne also blew me away with her portrayal as a beautiful, tattooed,traveling carnie that gets caught up in the choices made by Jack Boucher.

A really beautiful movie!!

Beautiful filmmaking. Unbelievable cinematography. Captivating story of a son's physical decline but persistent love for his mother and characters he meets along the way back to the top. Also really impressed by the Parker brothers. Wasn't super familiar with their work prior to this movie and the direction of the film was of veteran caliber. Furthermore after associating Bella Thorne with a different type of role seeing her deliver in such a serious tone was a pleasant surprise. It's a great rainy day thriller for any violence junkies like myself. Overall 9/10 rating because I always enjoy a love storyline but respect that the Phillips brothers didn't deviate from the author's original story.
